Outstanding facilities in Walton-on-Thames
Danesfield Manor School, housed in a charming Victorian building in leafy Walton-on-Thames, has spaces that seamlessly blends historic architecture with modern amenities. The school takes pride in its multi-purpose playgrounds and very popular outdoor 'trim-trail', providing students with ample space for outdoor activities and fun.
Rare for a prep school its size our swimming pool is a real highlight for all the pupils. The indoor heated pool adds a unique dimension to the physical development curriculum. Pupils have at least 1 hour of swimming built into their timetable from as early as 3 years old. Many of our pupils are selected and invited to attend the Bronze, Silver and Gold squad clubs and enjoy our inter-house competitions and galas.
There are also many opportunities to join our additional after-school clubs which are arranged from age to interest. Our Upper Phase swimming club includes activities such as water-skills, water-polo and synchronised swimming providing an exciting alternative to gaining confidence in the water.
The Swimming Pool
At Danesfield we are fortunate to have a fabulous swimming pool where all our pupils learn to swim. The pool is kept at a reasonably warm temperature to ensure pupils remain warm during their lessons. Pupils learn to swim in their formal one hour lessons every week with the fabulous Mrs Hicks. Mrs Hicks is brilliant at making sure lessons are fun and challenging whilst aiming for all pupils to adopt the correct technique across all four strokes. Pupils also learn life-saving skills in their swimming lessons – a vital life skill that will remain with your child forever.
The older pupils who demonstrate great talent in the pool are invited to Swim Squad which is a club that takes place before school where pupils can perfect their technique across all four strokes and work on developing their stamina in preparation for swim competitions that take place throughout the school year.
The swimming pool is also used during ECA (Extra-Curricular Activities) with the timetable rotated every half-term. Pupils may undertake a 6 week block learning how to play water polo or create synchronised swimming routines as part of their swimming activity.
ECA includes all pupils from Rec-Y6 who are put into mixed age groups and who take part in timetabled and various activities around the school with different teachers.
Technology
IT devices are available for all students. In line with our commitment to fostering digital literacy, KS2 pupils have their own iPads, while Early Years and KS1 pupils share access to iPads and laptops, facilitating a seamless integration of technology into each pupils’ educational journey.
